Our last week together before Christmas. Let's keep up the momentum!

ELA

The task for this week: Write your own parody of a well-known fairytale to give it a fresh perspective.

Monday

This week will be all about writing your own parody! It should be fun, so try to enjoy yourself.

Brainstorming:

Watch this video on effective brainstorming. She does mention that certain parts are better to do with a group. Feel free to ask your parents, aunts/uncles, siblings, whoever to help you out!

Today, you are going to choose your well-known fairytale to make a parody of. Then you will brainstorm what you are going to do to make fun of it.

Some examples of well-known fairytales you might choose are:
- Sleeping Beauty
- Cinderella
- Rapunzel
- Jack and the Beanstalk
- Snow White
- Beauty and the Beast
- The Frog Prince
- Red Riding Hood
- Hansel and Gretel
- Rumpelstiltskin
- Snow Queen
- Thumbelina
- The Emperor's New Clothes
- The Real Princess

In your parody, you might use some OR all of the following techniques:
- Change the point of view to that of another character
- Give the characters contemporary attitudes and behaviors
- Use a modern setting
- Give the story a new message and a different ending

Tuesday - Thursday

Please click HERE to add to your story everyday.

Your best bet is to keep a written copy, either on Word, or Google Docs, and upload a new version of it everyday. On Thursday, you should upload your ENTIRE rough copy.

Please remember, you are writing a short story, so aim for 2-3 pages TYPED, size 12 Times New Roman font! If you are feeling up to it, write more! But, I want at least 2 pages. And, PLEASE use dialogue, we learned about quotations, so please use them properly!

Friday

Please click HERE to upload your ENTIRE GOOD COPY.

That means that you should be able to show editing was done. If I can see that you have not done any editing at all, I will mark you as not having a rough copy at all. Remember, you should be looking for spelling mistakes, sentences that don't make sense, or anything that sounds kind of funny.
